 A Little History
It all began in Warwick Street, Leamington Spa where we opened "Wheels" in the 1980's. Wheels was an unusual combination of a model shop, bus and coach hire agency and a quality railway-themed restaurant.

In those days, most restaurants were just, well, restaurants ! "Theming" was a new concept and we found it quite an adventure to build something new and very different - more than just an evening meal, but an experience, an evocation of an old fashioned railway journey.

In 1998 we opened the first phase of our new development on Nuneaton Railway Station, the model railway shop. The second phase, our "Platform 5" railway themed restaurant took a little longer - we had to get it just right!

Echos of the old Wheels could still be found at Nuneaton in our original old fashioned railway styled crockery bearing the Wheels logo, and in the photographs and many artefacts which decorate the walls. Many of our 'old' customers from Leamington Spa still visit us in our new home, and those who have yet to re-discover us may be surprised to find images of their younger selves in 1920s fancy dress at one of our many special Orient Express Nights!

I'm sure everyone will have experienced some of the upheaval caused by the modernisation of our British Railway network, and on Platform 5 our operations were constantly upset by engineering works, overrunning engineering works, platform closures, customer lifts out of action for nine months(!) and the many, many consequential train delays.  When our lease ended it was not possible to renew on agreeable terms and so it was decided to move and it was at this time that the classic bus and coach area of our interests continued to develop.

See other pages for our current operations.
